How to Trade Ford’s Earnings Pattern

  1. Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F)

Ford is set to report earnings tomorrow.

Fourth-quarter earnings have been pretty strong across the board this week.

Google blew estimates out of the park this morning…

AMD is up 10% after issuing a positive forward guidance for 2022…

And XOM popped off with rising oil prices.

But get this – all of these names have followed the same earnings pattern.

IV rose into the reports… and fell after.

And now, it’s Ford’s turn.

Ford just announced a $20 billion investment in EV – news that tends to be a bullish catalyst for automakers like F.

Combined with positive earnings, this could send F on another bullish ride higher – one we’ll play with a post-earnings asymmetric trade.

  1. AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (NYSE:AMC)

Meme stocks are popping again – and AMC shot up on a short squeeze yesterday…

Sending IV absolutely soaring after it crashed at the end of the month:

IV is likely to fall, and if this doesn’t hold then momentum sets up for a good bearish butterfly.

  1. Energy Transfer LP Unit NYSE:ET)

ET could be making a run over $10 this week. We saw some $10 call overwriting yesterday, and this might be an interesting inexpensive long call.

Today’s Market Will Determine
the VIX’s Future

Yellow Traffic LightThe market opened up for the first time in a week, and my VIX light is finally yellow.

Yellow means wild moves ahead… and those moves could be in either direction.

From here, we could go back to all-time highs…

Or we could see the S&P drop back down to 4,000.

There’s one thing I’m watching TODAY to see where the VIX – and in turn, the market – will be by the end of the week.

This is a key day.

If the rally holds, and we’re still in the green by the end of the day, then we’re clear to keep going all the way to new all-time highs.

If we give the rally away, then look out below – because it’s possible the VIX could pop again before we really settle.
